How to Talk to People Who Do Not Believe in Climate Change

You cannot argue somebody into believing in climate change. Facts do not change minds. Stories do.

Do not start with the science. They have heard it. They reject it. Start with what they care about. The economy, their health, their children future.

Talk about what is happening locally. Not polar bears. Not melting glaciers. Your local weather, your local economy, your local environment. People care about what they can see.

Find common ground. Almost everybody wants clean air, clean water, and a stable future. Start there.

Listen more than you talk. Understand why they are skeptical. Is it political identity? Economic fear? Mistrust of experts? Address the real reason, not the surface argument.

Accept that you might not change their mind. The goal is not to win an argument. It is to plant a seed. That seed might grow later.
